The Outreach Committee is pleased to announce that the Weymouth Food Pantry Backpack Program will once again be the beneficiary of St. John’s November food drive. The mission of the Weymouth Food Pantry Backpack Program is to support students grade 1 through 12 who don’t have access to assistance from school meal programs.
The Weymouth Food Pantry’s Weekend Backpack Program ensures that children facing food insecurity have reliable access to nutritious, kid‑friendly food every weekend of the school year. Childhood hunger affects learning, behavior, and long‑term health, and this program is one of the most powerful ways we can advance food equity for our youngest neighbors. Every backpack is tailored to accommodate dietary needs, cultural preferences, and allergies — including several new and complex allergies we’ve learned to navigate this year — so every child receives food that is safe, familiar, and supports their health and dignity. Because the program relies on single‑serve portions and specialized items, it is also one of our most expensive to operate. St. John’s food drive helps meet these needs directly, keeping children nourished, confident, and ready to learn.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
Our food drive relies heavily on the generosity and support of the community. There are several ways you can contribute:
Drop off requested food items in the Narthex or bin outside the side door.
Monetary contributions are also welcome. Checks can be made out to Weymouth Food Pantry and dropped off at St. John’s office.
