From the Rector: Welcome to the new Program Year at St. John the Evangelist!

Dear friends,

Welcome back to The Episcopal Parish of St. John the Evangelist in Hingham! Whether you have been away for the summer, at home all season, or have drifted in and out in recent months, I trust that you have all had healthy, restorative, and joyful summers.

There are several things to look forward to in the immediate future in our parish. First, I am excited at the prospect of our new “program year” which begins this weekend with Homecoming Sunday. I am excited to welcome our new Organist and Director of Music, Monique Weiss Byrnes, who will be playing her first Sunday with our Choir. Indeed, it will be a joy for many returning to welcome our curate Eva Dalzell who began during the quieter summer months, and who now gets to see St. John the Evangelist in full swing!

As you join us on Sunday, there will be the usual joy and vibrance in our worship, opportunities to gather and connect, as well as a few new elements, including a familiar friend in the sanctuary … see the photo which sits above this letter. As we will reflect together on Sunday, worship, healing and hope are at the heart of our parish’s foundations, both physically and spiritually. And what better way to begin the “new year” than to gather to pray to the God of our life, and to give thanks for all that is good in our lives and remind ourselves of where love resides even as we search.

I am looking forward to worshipping with you all this Sunday!

With every prayer and blessing,

Ed.
