B-SAFE is usually associated with summer. After all, “summer” is in the name: Boston’s Summer Academic & Fun Enrichment program. But on Oct. 24 St. John’s will bus about 50 kids to Hingham, for a B-SAFE event at the Not-So-Spooky Haunted House. The kids will enjoy some Halloween fun in the undercroft followed by games and treats in Lower Weld Hall. “They are beyond excited,” says Jennifer Seggev, who is helping to coordinate the event.
B-SAFE, which is run by St. Stephen’s in Boston, is well-known to the parishioners at St. John’s. Every summer for the past several years the church has organized a summer fun day for the program, combining a trip to the beach with lunch and activities at the church.
This summer, St. John’s gave over 100 Boston kids a reprieve from the city with a morning at Sandy Beach in Cohasset and a barbecued lunch and games. Michael Seggev led the effort for St. John’s in collaboration with the Sandy Beach Association and St. Stephen’s Church in Cohasset.
